Cold-Climate Variety Expertise
The right sod for Maine's Zone 4–6 range, sandy coastal soils, and acidic glacial-till inland sites.
Sod Varieties for Maine
Maine spans USDA Zone 6 along the southern coast through Zone 4 inland and Downeast. Soils run from sandy outwash in southern York County to thin glacial-till along the Midcoast to deep loam in the Sebago Lakes corridor. The right sod variety depends heavily on whether you're a salt-air coastal lot or an inland Maine site.
